Widely recognised as one of the best in the world at what we do.

What we do

Weathered open wagon — realistic rust, grime and faded paintwork

Weathering

Brake dust, exhaust staining, oil leaks, faded paintwork — every weathering job is unique to the prototype. From subtle in-service grime to end-of-steam days.

Resprays

Models can be resprayed from their original livery into anything the customer wants. A great deal of time and effort goes into creating a perfect finish.

Detailing & Modifications

Virtually every model on this website has had some level of detailing and modification. All etches and 3D prints used in this process are designed in house and are unique to Mercig models.

2mm to the foot.

All models on this site are N gauge — 2mm:1ft scale. The largest locomotives are just 13cm long. At this scale, every detail is a feat of precision.

Etched brass parts measured in fractions of a millimetre. Weathering effects applied grain by grain under magnification.
